Dr Attokaran graduated from Manipal Academy of Higher Education in India, in 2001. The formative years of his training were undertaken in South India and United Kingdom, before moving to Australia in 2006.
He underwent postgraduate training in South East Queensland through Royal Australasian College of Physicians & College of Intensive Care Medicine. Upon completion of his training he relocated to Rockhampton taking up a Consultant Intensivist position at Rockhampton Hospital in August 2016.
As a General Physician & Intensivist he is proficient in all aspects of acute and critical care medicine. His interests include perioperative medicine, infectious diseases, metabolic medicine and post intensive care syndrome with the aim to provide a service focusing on optimization of long-term outcome of critically ill patients.
Dr Attokaran passionately advocates for patient safety and healthcare improvement and actively pursues an academic career through research & educational activities. He is a current academic title holder (Senior Lecturer) with University of Queensland.
