Hillcrest Rockhampton Celebrates 25 Years

Jan 22, 2024

Staff, doctors and special guests recently got together to celebrate 25 years of operation after the reopening of Hillcrest Rockhampton Private Hospital in 1998.

‘Hillcrest Hospital’ opened on Talford Street in Rockhampton in 1899. In 1952, it was taken over by the Presbyterian Church and subsequently closed in 1997. In 1998, Hillcrest Rockhampton Private Hospital was reopened to offer leading, quality private healthcare services to the community once more.

‘Hillcrest Rockhampton Private CEO, Fiona Hebbard, said the hospital’s success was largely due to the team’s commitment to Paul Ramsay’s philosophy of People Caring for People.

‘“We have been lucky to have many wonderful people at our hospital over the past 25 years. Our first graduate intake was in 2000 comprising of four graduate RNs. Since then we have had 24 graduate intakes with 154 nursing graduates, many of who are still with us today,” Ms Hebbard said.

‘“Our strong inclusive culture has given us the ability to retain and engage our staff with 31 per cent of our workforce having a tenure of greater than 10 years.

‘“Recently we were able to present five team members with their 25 years of services badges. Congratulations to Lyn Neill, Deb Cox, Jo-anne Bailey, Stuart Robertson and Paula Hebron.

‘“Our hospital is extremely proud of what we have achieved to date and our commitment to our people and our community will ensure a bright, sustainable future.”
